CAN YOU HELP?

groups

Due to its isolation in the early days, Nyabing has always relied on its community spirit and volunteer involvement. In a small town like Nyabing, and so many others in rural Western Australia, without those volunteers organising various community groups the town would not have flourished. That intense community involvement continues to be felt to this day as a younger generation take over the reins.

But these are stories about earlier times, when things were tougher and a struggle just to survive. Yet people still found the time to offer their time, money, and services to make their community just a little better place to live.

Thanks to the members of the Nyabing Historical Society (one of those groups!) their stories have been preserved to remind future generations just what a community spirit in one’s town can achieve.

Notes from Nampup.

(From a Resident Correspondent)

The usual monthly meeting of the Nampup Progress Association was held here on the 8th inst and the attendance was fairly good.
New officers were elected, including the following:
President, Mr. Carlton Wisbey, J.P., in place of Mr. A. E. Clegg, J.P. retiring; Vice-President, Mr. Kippin; Secretary, Mr. J. Shields; Treasurer, Mr. Vic Shields in place of Mr. Donald Moore retiring. Very valuable work has been done through the Association and the services of the present officers, as well as those retiring, are and have been much appreciated. It is the aim of the Association to push the district ahead and, under its auspices, Nampup should in time be a thriving and prosperous township.
