Owned and operated by the Nyabing community
With the impending closure of the historic Nyabing Inn and the closure of the only general store in the town the community, especially the younger members of the community, decided something had to be done.
So they got together and did what every small community does in times like these. They formed a group to raise money to purchase these two important businesses and keep them open. They did this, and continue to do so, by running major fundraising activities including community crops. At the same time they looked for funding opportunities from a number of sources including state and national government sources.
Both their fundraising and funding opportunities have raised an incredible sum of money. The group now owns and operates the local general store and they purchased the local “watering hole” the Nyabing Inn.
