BRANCH RED CROSS SOCIETY.

Great Southern Herald
13 November 1915 – P3

At a meeting of ladies held at Nyabing School on the 5th inst., it was decided to form a branch of the Red Cross Society in the district. Mrs. Kippin was elected president; Mrs. Holterman, treasurer; Mrs. Charsley, hon. secretary, while Mrs. Kippin, Mrs. Manuel, and Mrs. Fiebig were appointed a working committee. The date of the fortnightly meetings was changed from Friday to Saturday afternoons at 2.30.

The committee will cut out and distribute as many garments for making up as hands will permit, but there are many other ways of helping the cause. For instance, one lady suggested the collecting of old sugar bags, flour bags, etc., for making into sandbags. Another lady kindly presented a pretty cushion cover to be sold. Yet another lady recently held a very successful and enjoyable “gift tea” at her residence, as a result of which she was able to despatch quite a goodly sized parcel of all kinds of comforts for distribution by the Red Cross Society. The thanks of the Nyabing workers are due to the Katanning branch for helping them to make a start.
