GENEALOGY LINKS

As we all look to the future, many of us are looking to our past to see where we came from.
Often, this is an exciting journey as we find various ancestors and family members,
who they were, what the did, and where they, and we,  came from.

There is a vast array of websites available on the internet providing all sorts of resources to help you on your journey of discovery. Some websites are free and some require payment to access their information. The paid sites do offer a lot more information than free sites but all sites are a valuable source of information.

I have found that most UK sites have information back to the mid 1660’s which includes births, deaths, marriages and more. Most also include information from various census reports which were held every ten years. From this data you can establish where your ancestors lived, what they did for a living, plus all members of the household including children and servants.

Much of the information before the mid 1660’s was recorded by churches and shires. Unless someone else has already researched that information and added it to the various websites you would need to travel to the UK to carry out your own research.

Australia has a rich and diverse community who, along with our first Australians, came from all parts of the world looking for a better life for themselves and their families. Of course, there were some who arrived reluctantly in chains from England – are you related to a convict? Find out!

Where did your family come from? Who were your ancestors?
Do you have someone famous in your family tree? When did your ancestors arrive in Australia?
